BLUETOOTH - HSBC’s new method of Advertising
HSBC has taken a leap in the advertising market by sending promotional messages to people through two of its London branches. The trial for this has been running since the start of the year and ends this week.
For this advertisement through Bluetooth a small box is installed in the branch that scans for passing mobile phones that have Bluetooth switched on.
Then a message is sent by the box to the person if he would like to receive a promotional message from the bank.If the person answers ‘yes’ the ad is sent to him, so it ensures the person is not forced to receive the advertisement. The promotional message encourages the person to go inside the branch and get more information.
The system also retains the mobile details of the person so that the message is not repeatedly sent to him and he is not spammed.
This trial has been running at two HSBC branches Regent Street and Canary Wharf.
The results of this trial will be analysed after the trial finishes this week and based on it the service shall be extended to other branches also. The initial reaction of people as been positive with no negative indications.
Hmm… Seems to be a nice policy waiting for it to get launched here in India in my mom’s branch.
