Microsoft, HCL to Launch World’s Cheapest Laptop

Microsoft Corp India and HCL Infosystems Ltd have announced a set of joint initiatives, including the launch of world’s cheapest Windows enabled laptop computer and the setting up of a center of excellence (CoE) to create a customized solution framework for India.

Making the announcement in Mumbai on Friday, Ajai Chowdhry, chairman and CEO of HCL, said, “The laptop will be launched under HCL’s MiLeap brand and will cost Rs 16,990.”

Why Panasonic’s Divx Compatible Blu-Ray Player maybe the new key to PIRACY?

Bluray Divx PiracyPanasonic has Launched DMP-BD30EG/EE a DivX compatible Blu-Ray player. It is the first of its kind standalone Blu-Ray player which supports DivX. Playstation 3 users already had the option to play DivX on there Blu-Ray players. This is a very big step by Panasonic but is it a new door for Piracy??

First some Jargon Buster :-)

DIVX:

DivX Codec is popular due to its ability to compress lengthy video segments into small sizes while maintaining relatively high visual quality. The DivX codec uses lossy MPEG-4 Part 2 compression, also known as MPEG-4 ASP, where quality is balanced against file size for utility. It is one of several codecs commonly associated with “ripping”, whereby audio and video multimedia are transferred to a hard disk and transcoded.

So this codec is very popular for ripping movies and is specifically used by pirates to share movies as the sizes are small.

AMD’s new way to prove its better than Intel

Hello Patrick, how can you call someone else’s technology yours :-/ You bought ATI but how can you call their technology yours :-? You didn’t develop it for sure. Intel is developing their own graphic technology from scratch. THERE IS HELL LOT DIFFERENCE IN BUYING AND DEVELOPING FROM SCRATCH

But there is a valid point, AMD can market ATI’s motherboards and say it would suffice the noobs, but if you are a mainstream gamer, onboard is not your cup of tea. Still I support AMD :P

End of 32 bit processors? Atleast Microsoft confirms that!

Pentium 4 and Core Duo Dead!Yeah its true! Microsoft has confirmed that Windows Vista is the last 32bit version of Windows for desktops. Windows Sever 2008 and its ‘release 2′ will be the last 32 bit for server. After that no more 32bits from Microsoft’s side!

Means that if you have Pentium 4 and Core Duo ( Pentium D) without Extended 64 support then you’ll need to stick with Vista forever else you will need to update to test forthcoming Windows from Microsoft.
