The better, “secure” and new operating system by Microsoft, Vista has succumbed to an old virus Yes that’s true some laptops pre-installed with Windows Vista Home Premium was found to have been infected with a 13-year-old boot sector virus which was first found in 1994. The virus name is “Stoned.Angelina”
A consignment of laptops from German manufacturer Medion, sold through German and Danish branches of giant retail chain Aldi, have been found to be infected with the boot sector virus ‘Stoned.Angelina’, first seen as long ago as 1994 and last included on the official WildList in 2001. According to German sources, anywhere between 10,000 and 100,000 systems may be infected, but as the machines apparently ship without floppy drives the virus is unlikely to spread. The systems come pre-installed with Windows Vista and Bullguard anti-virus, which will warn of the ‘harmless’ infection on booting the machines, but is unable to remove it.
Yeah its true! Microsoft has confirmed that Windows Vista is the last 32bit version of Windows for desktops. Windows Sever 2008 and its ‘release 2′ will be the last 32 bit for server. After that no more 32bits from Microsoft’s side!
Means that if you have Pentium 4 and Core Duo ( Pentium D) without Extended 64 support then you’ll need to stick with Vista forever else you will need to update to test forthcoming Windows from Microsoft. Microsoft will slowly transit into 64bit in 2008 because they have realized the benefits of 64-bit computing. Continue reading ‘End of 32 bit processors? Atleast Microsoft confirms that!’
