“OLD” virus infects “NEW” Vista

The better, “secure” and new operating system by Microsoft, Vista has succumbed to an old virus :-o Yes that’s true some laptops pre-installed with Windows Vista Home Premium was found to have been infected with a 13-year-old boot sector virus which was first found in 1994. The virus name is “Stoned.Angelina”

A consignment of laptops from German manufacturer Medion, sold through German and Danish branches of giant retail chain Aldi, have been found to be infected with the boot sector virus ‘Stoned.Angelina’, first seen as long ago as 1994 and last included on the official WildList in 2001. According to German sources, anywhere between 10,000 and 100,000 systems may be infected, but as the machines apparently ship without floppy drives the virus is unlikely to spread. The systems come pre-installed with Windows Vista and Bullguard anti-virus, which will warn of the ‘harmless’ infection on booting the machines, but is unable to remove it.

Microsoft Vista ReadyBoostToday at Techreckoner I am writing about Microsoft’s Windows Vista’s ReadyBoost technology and is it worth all the hype.

But first an insight into what actually ReadyBoost is.

ReadyBoost is a disk caching technology first included with Microsoft’s Windows Vistaoperating system. It aims to make computers running Windows Vista more responsive by using flash memory on a USB 2.0 drive, SD card, CompactFlash, or other form of flash memory, in order to boost system performance. Vista Compatible Boot Camp Public Beta Available

On March 28, Apple released a new version of Boot Camp, 1.2, that is compatible with 32-bit Vista. Boot Camp is Apple-developed software that allows Intel-based Macs to run Windows without requiring emulation.

Boot Camp 1.2 beta contains several updates and is intended for all new and previous Boot Camp beta users.

  • Updated drivers, including but not limited to trackpad, AppleTime (synch), audio, graphics, modem, iSight camera

But i wonder why does Mac wants its users to use Vista when it boasts that vista interface is a copy of Mac OS X
