Wordpress Version 2.2: What’s new? and What’s not still in there

Version 2.2 of the opensource blogging software Wordpress will be released on April 22,2007.It comes with some new features and here is a list of the features.

  • Tagging (Template_Tags/the_tags) Earlier tags were added by use of plugins but now it has become an inbuilt feature in wordpress which is quite gud.
  • Permanent Link Redirection has also been added
  • Improved way of editing comments

There are some advanced user stuff and here is a list to it

  • Atom 1.0 support for feeds.
  • Multiple format comment feeds, including Atom.
  • Switched to jQuery for core JS, which is lighter and faster.
  • Atom API support.
  • Additional XML-RPC APIs for pages and such.
  • phpmailer was integrated for performance and maintainability.

Features which are not in it yet

  • New permalink redirection stuff
  • No additional theme added you’ll have the same two old themes by default Wordpress Classic and Wordpress Default
  • No Widgets by default yet
